PORTABLE REFRIGERATION
THE CHALLENGE
The U.S. Army and U.S. SOCOM needed a battery operated, low size, weight, and power (SWaP) refrigeration system to enable the use of blood and fresh frozen plasma in forward operating environments.
THE SOLUTION
Nanohmics designed a vapor compression refrigeration system around a miniature low power, high efficiency compressor. The system is man portable and has three separate zones that can be independently controlled from -18°C to 15°C enabling the simultaneous storage of both whole blood and fresh frozen plasma. The system can run off of AC and DC power inputs or on internal battery power. We worked closely with the SOCOM personnel to ensure the system met all operational needs.
BENEFIT TO CLIENT
Enabling the use of blood and blood products closer to the battlefield directly translates to saving lives.
